Making Your Life Count

 

Devotional Text:
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom (Psalm 90:12).

Numbering Our Days with Eternal Consciousness

The understanding of times and seasons should lead us to effectively maximizing our days. We need to be accountable for the time we have at our disposal daily. This means that we must make good use of our time because all that Eternity has set in our hearts can only be achieved within our time here.

Living with the consciousness that each day is a gift and must be put to efficient and godly use will help us walk in wisdom. That is how to make our lives count for here and eternity.

We all have a destiny to fulfill and our aim must be to make an impact on our world. Some people live a life of godly impact, some have a negative impact on their world, while some make no impact at all. We must deliberately choose to make a positive impact in our generation.

Purpose: The Foundation of a Life That Counts

Living a purposeful life is central to making our lives count. Discovering the reason we are here and spending each day in active pursuit of purpose is the key to fulfillment in life.

There is a reason we are created. Everything and everyone God created has a purpose. It is a terrible thing to live a purposeless life. Every man has a destiny to fulfill. As it is often said, when the purpose of a thing is unknown, abuse is inevitable. Many people make wrong decisions and become easy prey in the hands of the devil because they lack purpose and direction.

The Holy Spirit within you will lead you into the understanding of your purpose, and He will use specific voices around you to bring external confirmation. Walking in your purpose makes it natural and supernatural for you to make an impact on your world for God.

Seeing, Vision, and Destiny Alignment

The prophet asked, “What shall I cry?” (Isaiah 40:6). He would only speak what he had seen. What you see is what you become. The scope of your sight determines your height in destiny. There is only a possibility of achieving what you can conceive.

Get up now and go see, because you will only get as far as you can see. Meditate on what you see until that image is planted on your eyeball and inscribed in your heart. Let it capture you.

Your purpose gives you a voice in your generation. It defines the place where you operate in grace and helps you understand your race—your pursuit. Arise and build capacity under God to fulfill His purpose for your days here. Understand divine timing and what God would have you do per time. Your life will count in Jesus’ name.

Wisdom for Maximizing Times and Seasons

We must deliberately count our days and examine how much progress we have made with God’s purpose for our lives. God came to Joshua when he was very old and told him there were still many lands to conquer. His age was not presented as a limitation, but the responsibility remained.

This teaches us that we must learn the art of maximizing our days under God. Wisdom is the principal thing. It takes wisdom to be accountable for our time and to place proper valuation on our lives so we can run with heaven’s agenda.

Living outside wisdom is not walking circumspectly. Only those who possess God’s wisdom can value their days and ensure they count for God and humanity. This wisdom is not earthly or corrupt, but the wisdom from above—pure, peace-loving, considerate, full of mercy and good fruits (James 3:17).

Jesus made undeniable impact during His earthly ministry because He was filled with the wisdom and power of God. God gave Daniel wisdom to fulfill divine purposes in Babylon, a strange land. In the same way, God can give you insight that will transform your generation.

Strength, Grace, and Finishing Strong

Jesus remains the ultimate model for a life that counts. Scripture says He waxed strong in spirit. Your spirit—the inner man—must be strong to accomplish anything significant with your outer man. The strength of a man is the strength of his spirit. Those who know their God shall be strong and do exploits (Daniel 11:32).

Genuine salvation, a sound devotional life, and walking in the Spirit will strengthen your inner man. Through communion with the Holy Spirit, you are strengthened with might within. Praying in the Holy Ghost builds your spirit and releases rivers of living water.

God has not given you the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Power resides in your spirit, and you are not ordinary. You have the capacity to overcome anything designed to hinder you from making your life count.

The grace of God is indispensable in this journey. Grace empowers us to deny ungodliness, overcome temptation, thrive through seasons, and finish strong. A graceless life is a weak life.

Grace is accessed through total surrender to Christ. Though we received grace at salvation, we must continue to grow and become strong in it. God is able to make all grace abound toward you so that you will always have sufficiency and abundance for every good work.

Through grace, you can become all God intends and accomplish everything He has earmarked for your life.

Your life will count.
