Introductory Remarks
We are in a very crucial season in God’s calendar. It is the latter-day. The prophecy in God’s word is clear as to things that will occur in the end times. It is a period characterized by gross darkness and the enemy is marshaling all efforts to gain more souls into hell.
The Spirit-filled believer needs to experience an outpouring of the power of the Holy Spirit afresh and in a consistent manner in order to be able to withstand the evil of the last days (Joel 2:28ff). The Holy Spirit in your life will conform you to the nature of Christ. The Holy Spirit will give you spiritual perception and power to overcome the fiery darts of error and heresy that is striking many shallow Christians dead today. Where do you stand?
The former rain is for the planting season, the seeding of the Church. The latter rain comes before the harvest (Joel 2:23). It is worth waiting for because, without it, the harvest will not be a reality (Jam 5:7).
The perspective of perceiving this latter-day outpouring
a. Rain of righteousness (Hos 10:12) – divine salvation, personal holiness, church revival
b. The showers of blessings – Healing, deliverance, divine provisions
c. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit – Jesus’ Baptismal experience. The heavens were opened
d. The submergence into the knowledge of God (Hos 6:1-4)
e. The receiving of divine revelation due to the open heavens Ezek 1:1
There will be no outpouring except there is first an open heavens
Prerequisites for securing open heavens
Condition 1
In II Chr 7:12-14, we see the possibility of God withholding the rains. The reason is because of the backsliding of His people. He wants them to turn to Him and walk according to His law. He wants His people to begin to walk in purity and humility.
Condition 2
It is time to seek the Lord till...
We must recognize the times. It is our day to seek God and find Him. We must seek Him while we are yet young and while He is tugging our hearts.
We must seek Him till we see results
Jesus sighed in Mark 7:37: Ephata! Be opened!
Pressing for the harvest after the outpouring - Luke 5
After receiving the outpouring, we must understand the purpose thereof.
The outpouring comes for:
Preservation – Purity – Power – Productivity – reProduction
The purpose of the outpouring upon your life is for harvest. You must engage in prayer for a specific direction for your harvest.
You must launch into the deep and let down your net.
These were the words of Jesus to Peter at the Lake Gennesaret.
The day Peter encountered Jesus, his heavens were opened. Before this time, he had laboured tirelessly and caught nothing!
One secret from heaven is will outrun a whole life of struggle
What you need is a word from the Lord! We need spiritual direction
The children of Issachar had understanding and direction. They were able to make a spiritual impact!
There is a work to do and souls to harvest into the kingdom
Believers need to be discipled and be raised for exploits
