Youth is the dressing room for tomorrow. It is the only time to prepare for the future. Everyone has great expectations for tomorrow but not everyone prepares for it.
What kind of a future do you envision? What is God showing you about your tomorrow? You need to discover your purpose and live for it.
A life without purpose is one without a future. Anything not prepared for has no potential to succeed. Leaving life to chance means setting up for failure. This is why many people miss it in their careers, family life, etc.
1. The foundation for your future - Christ
There is no other foundation that any man can lay except that which is already laid - Jesus Christ.
We can't imagine a building without a foundation, right? The building cannot stand. Also, a life without Christ will have no capacity to overcome temptations and challenges designed by the enemy to stop you from fulfilling your destiny.
Let's not be deceived by people who are famous and rich but are not in Christ. Rather, think about following God's plan for your own life because that is what secures your future and gives you a place even in the afterlife (Jeremiah 29:11, 12).
The depth of solidity of your foundation determines how high you can build on it. Therefore, break free from rising and falling. Break free from backsliding. Break free from sin, compromise, peer pressure, ungodly relationships and addictive habits, which are making your foundation shaky, uncertain and shallow.
2. Building blocks for the future - Luke 2:40, 52
Now, let's talk about building for the future.
a. We are built through the Word of God. God Word helps us to grow spiritually. A strong spiritual life is needed to grow into God's purpose for your life.
And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified (Acts 20:32, KJV).
Also, confess and speak the word of God continually into your life. Believe what God says about you not what the devil or others think about you.
b. Wisdom - Proverbs 24:2; Psalm 90:12
We need the wisdom of God to lead successful lives. Wisdom helps us make the right decisions and walk in the right path. It guides us to walk with the right people. Wisdom guides our communication and lifestyle to align with God's will thereby leading us into God's plans and purpose for our lives
c. Prayer
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost (Jude 1:20 KJV).
d. Be focused. Do not allow distractions. Only people with vision are focused. Have a dream. Martin Luther King Jr if a man has not discovered what he can die for he isn't fit to live. Focus fuels determination. Avoid the company of the ungodly.
Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee (Proverbs 4:25 KJV).
e. Be diligent. Approach your studies with hard work. Shun laziness.
He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich (Proverbs 10:4 KJV).
The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute (Proverbs 12:24 KJV).
3. Anointed and Empowered for a glorious future
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound (Isaiah 61:1)
You need the Holy Spirit to succeed in life. You need Him to operate at the maximum. No one can completely fulfill God's plan for their future without the Holy Spirit. You need to be anointed and empowered for your destiny. The Holy Spirit is The Helper!
