The Benefits of God's Word

The Bible is a spiritual book. It is the Word of God. It is God’s revelation and message to man. It is a treasure chest and a compass. There are invaluable and unquantifiable blessings in God’s Word. The Word of God can change the life of anyone who reads it under the illumination of the Holy Spirit. 

The inherent benefits of God’s Word need to be explored to inform and remind us of the good that awaits us as we open the Scriptures. This will encourage us to make the practice of studying the Bible a regular part of our lives.

Without further ado, let's examine the key reasons why studying the Bible is essential.

1. The Word keeps us from sin

Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word (Psalm 119:9).

The Bible contains numerous instructions and exhortations on godly living. Constant interaction with the word of God will produce a passion for purity. Heeding to the words of God is the way to abstain from sin.

2. The word guides our path

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee (Psalm 119:11).

The Lord leads us through His word. The word of God (The Bible) provides divine instructions that will guide you in your daily life. The word of God helps to bring illumination to our path. It gives direction. The word of God is the will of God. This is the reason you need to read your Bible daily.

3. The word makes us grow in faith

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). 

Having intimacy with God's word through listening, reading, studying and meditating on the word of God will help our faith grow. Spending time with the word will help us to be more conscious of the greatness and the ability of God. 

4. The word makes us overcomers 

I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one (1 John 2:14).

The Word of God can build up our faith to face mountains and beat them down. It contains numerous promises that assure us of victory over life's challenges. It is also replete with scriptures that guarantee our victory in spiritual warfare. 

The Word is a spiritual weapon against the forces of evil. In Ephesians 6:7, the Bible says, ‘And take the helmet of salvation, land the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God’’

Additionally, it is filled with divine instructions that if followed will guarantee us victory in times of adversity.

6. It builds us as instruments in God's hands

And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

A life that is built on God’s word will manifest the fruit of righteousness. It is a life that will be in alignment with the will and purpose of God. Additionally, such a believer becomes mature and can function for God. 

The Word of God can lead us to spiritual growth and maturity. It is an agent of our preparation for our ministry to the body of Christ and the world.

7. It brings healing and deliverance

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions (Psalm 107:20). 

The Word of God carries power. It is God’s instrument for transforming lives. The Word of God can bring God’s blessings into our lives. It can set free and heal. 

8. It shows us the path to success in what God has called us to do

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success (Joshua 1:8).

The Bible is a success guide for every believer in whatever they choose to do following God’s will. The Word has instructions for every facet of your life and if you follow them, you will achieve success.
