Give me this Mountain!

 

Text: Joshua 14:6–14 | 1 Peter 5:10

The story in Joshua 14 is a powerful reminder that even in seasons of divine fulfillment, not everything will fall on your lap — some mountains must be claimed. Caleb stands before Joshua and says with boldness: “Give me this mountain!” This wasn’t arrogance. It was holy confidence. A declaration rooted in divine promise and long-standing obedience.

Long before this moment, God had promised Caleb an inheritance. But 45 years had passed — years of wandering, warfare, and wilderness. Yet Caleb did not forget the word spoken over him. While others complained or compromised, he followed God wholeheartedly. And when the time came, he stepped forward and made his request known.

Beloved, there is a mountain with your name on it. A divine inheritance. A promised settlement. A space to occupy for God’s glory. But like Caleb, you must rise in faith and declare: “Give me this mountain!”

Why You Must Seek Divine Settlement:

1. Until you are settled, your heart may remain restless. Delay can lead to discouragement if not handled in faith.

2 Settlement is the reward for your faithfulness and endurance — it’s God’s way of saying, “Well done.”

3. Your mountain represents a territory God wants you to possess — a life, a calling, an influence, or a divine responsibility.

1 Peter 5:10 reminds us that after you have suffered a while, the God of all grace will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. That “mountain” is not just about you — it’s about the fulfillment of God’s glory through you.

What Could Your Mountain Be?

1. A soul you’re praying into the Kingdom.

2. A territory or mission — like John Knox who cried, “Give me Scotland or I die!”

3. A breakthrough in your spiritual walk or ministry.

4. A challenge you want God to overcome for you.

5. A divine opportunity to make lasting impact.

How to Receive Your Mountain — Caleb's Model:

1. Stand on the Word of God: Caleb remembered what God said 45 years ago. God’s word doesn’t expire.

2. Ask Boldly in Prayer: He didn’t assume. He made his request known.

3. Retain Spiritual Strength and Passion: “I am as strong today as I was then,” he said. Keep your fire alive.

4. Submit to Spiritual Authority: Caleb didn’t bypass Joshua. He honoured the divine order and received through alignment.

5. Follow God Wholeheartedly: This was the secret to Caleb’s strength and favour. No compromise. No lukewarmness.

Declare These Prayers Today:

Lord, give me this mountain — the inheritance You have marked out for me.

Father, settle me in every area of delay or struggle.

I enter into my divine inheritance by faith.

Renew my strength, Lord. Let me not grow weary before I receive.

I receive grace to follow You wholeheartedly until my promise becomes possession.

Let this be your season of divine settlement. Don’t let time, fear, or opposition stop you. Your mountain is waiting — go get it!
