Stir Up Yourself

The Call to Stir Yourself

Living up to divine expectations requires conscious effort. It involves stirring up yourself—awakening the giant within. David was seen as little, but within him was a giant who could win a national battle and bring rest to a nation. He did not take the back seat when God’s people were threatened.

Isaiah 64:7 (KJV)

“And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.”

2 Timothy 1:6 (KJV)

“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.”

What has the Lord been asking you to respond to that you have postponed or ignored? Scripture warns: “Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child” (Ecclesiastes 10:16). There is a call to spiritual growth and maturity because responsibility rests upon you. You are a king and priest, a royal ambassador, called to legislate spiritually and offer sacrifices that advance the kingdom in your sphere of influence (Galatians 4:1–2).

When the Deliverer Is Not Ready

Isaiah 37:3 describes a tragic moment: “This day is a day of distress and rebuke and disgrace, as when children come to the moment of birth and there is no strength to deliver them.”

When the deliverer in you is not ready, destinies suffer delay. Nations remain barren, and promises hang unfulfilled. Stirring yourself is the antidote—it is the way to rise into maturity and strength so that you can deliver what God has placed within you.

How to Stir Yourself

To rise into your calling, you must stir yourself through:

1. A Fresh Encounter with God

Seek Him until His presence becomes real and His voice unmistakable.

2. Revelation of Who You Are

Identity fuels destiny. Know who you are in Christ and what He has called you to do.

3. Engage with the Word

The Word builds you up and grants you your inheritance (Acts 20:32).

4. Build Capacity by Praying in the Spirit

Jude 20: “Build up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.”

5. Submit to the Ministry of the Five-Fold and Disciplers

Allow mentors and spiritual leaders to shape and sharpen you.

6. Fellowship

Iron sharpens iron. Surround yourself with believers who challenge and encourage you.

7. Divine Impartation

Receive grace and empowerment through spiritual impartation.

8. Faith Thinking, Talk, and Steps

Align your thoughts, words, and actions with faith. Speak and act in line with God’s promises.

Conclusion

There is a giant within you waiting to arise. Stir yourself to maturity, to responsibility, and to effectiveness in your calling. Seek fresh encounters, embrace revelation, engage the Word, pray in the Spirit, and walk in faith.

The nations are waiting for deliverers. The kingdom is waiting for priests and kings. The Spirit is calling you: Stir up yourself, and let the giant in you arise.
