The first thing the woman at the well did after meeting Christ was to announce Him. We are to do the same. We are to publicize Christ so that all will hear and believe in Him. Faith comes by hearing. Souls can be saved through your writing. The truth is that many have been saved by reading a post online. Pray and ask the Lord how He wants you to reach people online through your writings.
After someone has made a definite decision for Christ, they need to be discipled. The fulcrum of the great commission is anchored on discipleship. It is very imperative that we develop approaches and strategies that will be very effective in following up new converts after they have made decisions for Christ. A regular engagement with them is also necessary to make for their spiritual growth. We must make it a deliberate effort about this.
Also, we have to channel trending issues on social media in a positive manner (for the gospel). Social media is full of lots of discussions about things happening around us. During Jesus’ day, He was given the news about people that lost their lives in a particular incident. Jesus was very quick to point the attention of the people around Him to the need for them to be concerned about their own personal salvation. He was quick in presenting the need for repentance to them.
Our expected attitude in times like this is to weave the events around us with the gospel message. We must urge them to see that the current occurrences in our generation are indices of the last days.
Several folks online are desperately in need of a touch from God. It could be; financial burdens, marital challenges, health issues or personal questions, just to mention a few. These needs could also be genuinely expressed online either publicly or privately. Yes, God wants us to minister to people with needs who are online (albeit with caution). The Holy Spirit is not limited in operations and the ministry of helps, healing and deliverance can occur via this platform if we are willing and available.
You could post a prayer that will meet someone’s present need or give a word of knowledge that helps someone. Some people could be on the verge of committing suicide and your words could be a lifesaver for them.
Finally, Christian ministers could be equipped and empowered for greater ministry effectiveness through online Christian writing. Training and teachings for ministry could take place electronically online.
