Daniel was among the Jews that were carried captive into the land of Babylon. Upon being admitted into the King’s palace, he resolved not to be defiled with the delicacies that were being served there. He was also miraculously delivered from the den of lions after his fellow workers moved King Darius to prevent all people in his kingdom from worshipping any other god apart from him. Daniel prayed to the true God, Jehovah, and he was thrown into the den of lions but God preserved him.
Another striking event in the life of Daniel was how he received the interpretation to the dream of king Nebuchadnezzar. He was able to gain revelation and insight into the past, present and future. He could foretell and forth-tell the mind of the Lord.
As a political appointee, Daniel was referred to as preferred among his contemporaries. His depth of knowledge, wisdom and understanding of divine things helped his leadership to be very successful. Hence, he was promoted by the king.
Key lessons in pursuing destiny from the life of Daniel
He was a man of purpose & purity
He lived a purposeful life. He lived intentionally. He was resolved to bring the kingdom into Babylon and he was mightily used by God to advance the kingdom.
He was a man of prayer & passion
In Daniel, we see prayerfulness. One aspect of prayer we also observe in him is importunity. He was very consistent as well. He was much disciplined with his prayer time. This is one of the lessons that we need to learn as we pursue destiny. John Wesley said: God does nothing but in response to prayer, believing prayer.
He was a man that valued kingdom relationship
Together Everyone Achieves More. Daniel partnered with his friends. Their camaraderie gave birth to amazing results. They prayed together and sought God for the revelation of the king’s dream. Standing together for God did help strengthen their resolve.
