The Joshua Generation 1

The focus of this teaching is to gain scriptural understanding of the Joshua Generation as well as Holy Spirit inspired insights for our own lives and ministries as the prophetic Joshua Generation.

First, we begin by looking at the man – JOSHUA. His name means God is the Saviour. His ministry bordered on

Crossing Jordan River and Conquering Jericho

Carrying on the leadership work from where Moses stopped.

Taking the children of Israel to the Promised Land

Settling them into the land

Joshua was Moses' minister (servant). He was raised by Moses. He understood the word, ways and wonders of the Lord. He was a man who had been there all along. He had touch with the past dealings of God with the older generation and He was also the man that God was giving the future to.

Discipleship: God's way of raising future leaders

As we trust the Lord to engage us for His coming move, we must realize that the future cannot be committed to strangers. God only commits His mysteries, mission and move into the hands of disciples...into the hands of sons. You must be committed to your discipleship walk with the Lord. You must gain specific and sequential lessons from God.

God will take you through different school where you'll learn so that you can be useful in His hands. Nobody suddenly emerges into God's agenda without divine formation.

Talking about Jesus, the Bible says, “Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered.” Hebrews 5:8

Discipleship is God's way of exposing us to His agenda and commissioning us for it

Discipleship is God's way of forming us to be conformed to His image

Discipleship is God's way of investing in us so that we can be fruitful

God also brings us under the tutelage of governors, tutors, instructors and fathers (men) for our discipleship.

1 Corinthians 4:15 KJV

For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

Galatians 4:1-2 KJV

Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;

[2] But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.

These are divinely ordained people who give us the opportunity to learn in an audio visual manner - by the things we hear and see in them.

Ephesians 4:11-14 KJV

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

[12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

[13] Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

[14] That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

The Joshua Generation is one which honours their fathers because they are discipled. Honouring the past generation/outgoing generation is critical to God trusting you with the future. God said, “As I was with Moses, I will be with you.” That was because Joshua honoured Moses. If Joshua was speaking against his father, he would have been eating up his future and he wouldn't have gotten divine endorsement.
