Sardis
- 3:1-6
They have names that signify that they
are alive but spiritually, they are dead. It’s time for them to awake, arise and
strengthen the things that remain and are set to die. Such things include
prayer, passion for the word, evangelism etc. They need to recollect the things
they have heard and received and how they got those things. They need to hold
fast and repent.
Philadelphia
- 3:7-13
An open door is set before this
church. They are to walk in and do the seemingly impossible through the might
and the power of God. Although in
themselves, they have little strength, yet they kept the word of God and didn’t
deny Christ.
Christ is giving this church influence
over their enemies. Christ is making it possible for them to make impact. Their
light will shine and those who were previously against them because of their
faith will come and bow to Christ in their lives.
Laodicea
– 3:14-22
Neither hot nor cold – lukewarm
This is a church that is not
discerning. They need eye salve. They are rich in goods but bereft of wealth of
spiritual grace and power. They have no depth with God.
They need to be clothed because they
are naked though they do not know. Christ loves us and that’s why He is
correcting us. Let’s repent!

2. 1. We need to ask Him to reveal our state to us.
We need to hear what the Spirit is saying to the church
3. 2. Take deliberate steps of obedience based on
the instructions we have received from the word of God
