Devotional Text: Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world (Galatians 4:1-2).
There is a time appointed by the Father that we enter into the fullness of our inheritance in God and begin to take kingdom responsibility.
Heaven and earth is awaiting the manifestation of the sons of God. These are believers who have moved beyond the elementary principles of Christ (although still living in the realities of them) and have pressed on to perfection. They are strengthened by the Holy Spirit to kingdom exploits.
The word of God further describes these Christians as those who take strong meat and engage their spiritual senses in discerning what the will of God is. God's approved process for bringing men into growth and their inheritance is discipleship (following the footsteps of Jesus).
Some years back, I asked a minister of God what was the secret of the exceptionality of himself and some other ministers I looked up to. I expected a long response. However, his answer was simple. Following Jesus.
You cannot grow spiritually and become a usable vessel in God's hands if you don’t follow Jesus daily. Persistence in living like a slave will make one last long in the wilderness of life. It is time for you to arise into the paths ordained for your life. It is imperative to be intentional about our spiritual growth.
As we follow the Lord, He also brings across our lives people who are meant to be helpers of our joy (2 Corinthians 1:24). These are people in whose lives the word has been made flesh. They have touched spiritual realities and are capable of leading others to learning more about Jesus.
Action Point/Challenge: Work out a spiritual growth plan.
Prayer: Lord, lead me on to higher ground in Jesus' name.
