We slander God by our much eagerness to serve Him without knowing Him – Oswald Chambers
If a man does not believe in God, he ends up believing in anything – Malcom Muggeridge
THOUGHTS FOR MEDITATION
1. Before you aspire to be a Christian worker, you must be a worshipper because God is in search of true worshippers
2. Religionist believers worship who/what they know not
3. The only way to know Him is by constant devotion – worship
4. True worship/knowledge of God rests on the pillars of understanding the Spirit and the scriptures. God reveals Himself via the Word and the Spirit. (John 4:26; Titus 3:5)
5. The gateway to a lifetime experience of worshipping and knowing Him is by an encounter with Jesus – the Living Water. Other things cannot satisfy. Only Christ does. When Christ is absent, we get involved in all the wrong and sinful things and our lives tend to be directionless e.g the woman at the well.
6. True rest is found in discipleship, not friendships, relationships, ownerships, studentship, leadership or mentorship etc
A LIFE WITHOUT CHRIST’S REVELATION – The woman at the well
1. Such could be tribal...passionate about the customs and traditions that make the word of God of none effect. They could be rigid and religious/parochial. John 4: 21, 9, 27
2. Ignorant of spiritual realities and possibilities John4: 11, 25
3. Rates the word of men than God’s word John 4:12
4. Great focus on the ephemeral things – Jn 4:15
5. Head knowledge without heart transformation – Jn 4:19
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO KNOW HIM?
1. It means to be well acquainted with Him.
2. It means to understand and experience dealings from Him.
3. It means to be in a daily, practical and working relationship with God.
4. It means a current and consistent relationship with God.
5. It means knowing both His ways and acts
