Revival at the School of Tyrannus

The school of Tyrannus was a place apostle Paul chose to use to advance his evangelistic efforts when he discovered that there was so much opposition to the gospel from the synagogue. He decided to try out new terrain. Bible scholars have agreed that Tyrannus was a Jew who was not hostile to the Christian faith and that his school was like a public lecture hall where people came to study and discuss philosophical issues. It can be compared to the university structures we have today.

But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. Acts 19:9

This is revival!
And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks, And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: Acts 19:10-11.
There was great testimony through the ministry of Paul in a rather short period of time. It was indeed a continental-wide revival. The secrets of the revival that affected the disciples positively and indeed the whole of Asia are;
Holy-Spirit inspired strategy
When Paul discovered that the people in the synagogue were hardened, he decided to take the disciples away from there and looked out for a new place where the gospel would thrive and the school of Tyrannus was his option. You might need to change your approach when you discover the method you have been applying in reaching out to people is not yielding fruits.

Apologia

Apologetics simply means making a defence for the Christian faith and proving the authenticity of scripture claims. The School of Tyrannus was filled with intellectuals and he knew that to be able to convince them, he needed to prove to them (disputing) that Jesus was the One who could save from sin in a very logical manner explained from the scriptures. Apologetics is only a form of evangelism. It appeals to the mind and it is necessary to point to anyone who gives mental assent to what we have said concerning Christ that having a mental assent is not enough. They must make a definite decision for Christ.
Power for revival
If you major in giving Christians apologetics and sharing the gospel without anointing, there would be no fruits. It was the anointing of the Holy Spirit that helped Paul’s revival labours to be fruitful. The signs and wonders really affected the hearts of the people and they came to believe in God.

Discipleship and leadership training

RESULTS OF THE REVIVAL LABOURS [Read Acts 19: 9-22]
1.      The gospel did spread and the word of God grew mightily in the continent of Asia.
2.      Special signs and wonders were wrought through the hands of the apostle.
3.      The Sons of Sceva were disgraced. Revival will bring a difference between the fake move of God and the genuine move of God.
4.      Ministers were raised.
5.      People who majored in curious arts and magical activities were powerfully saved.
A CLOSING CHARGE
Where is your school of Tyrannus?
What difference can you make?

What is the Holy Spirit speaking to you about?
What do you see?
It is time for a move of God in your life, church and in the nations. Will you make yourself available? Pray!
