Christian writing is a ministry. It is not
secular. Therefore, it is imperative that you are divinely approved. It is
always the man/woman before the message/word. Your personal walk/relationship
with God is more valuable to Him than your writing efforts. The greatest
temptation will be to write something and do the exact opposite. Your life must
match your writings.

As a Christian
writer, your level of impact is directly proportional to how much of God you
carry. By that, I mean, how much of God you know. Knowing God rests primarily
on the pillars of studying God’s word, deep prayers and fellowshipping with
God’s people.
Righteousness
Rightness with God begins when you have a
real encounter with Christ whereby your sins are forgiven and you receive
strength to deny sin. Living a life that pleases God will make heaven authorize
your writings to make an impact in the lives of people. It is the key to divine
announcement.
Being at peace with everyone is an outflow of
a life that pleases God. This will make your life an epistle (letter) to be
read of people. It is very imperative that you live what you write. Walk in
holiness. Heb12:14. You need a good relationship with people if you want them
to appreciate and read your writings. He that wins souls is wise!
Is not My word
like a fire?
Also, your life must be on fire for God. Holy
Spirit baptism is crucial for those who want to serve God in any capacity and
be a blessing. The Holy Spirit sets you ablaze for His glory. Have you received
the Holy Spirit since you believed?
When the Holy Spirit comes into your life,
your words will be ignited in the hearts of people. The disciples that walked
with Jesus on the road to Emmaus testified of this: Did not our hearts burn
within us while He talked with us? It was said of John the Baptist that he was
a burning and a shining light.
Think of some books by some authors that have
been in circulation for many years and their impact is still very strong. Some
hymns, quotes and writings are not left out. The only explanation is that the
writers had a deep relationship with God and were writing His mind.
You need to make
out time to read other Christian writers and authors both in history and
contemporary times. These will edify you and give you inspiration for your own
writing as well.
Furthermore, don’t
be isolated or insulated from people. Where do you expect to get your story
ideas from? Serve the body of Christ in your local church and/or ministry. Your
service will help you express divine truths in a more explanatory and edifying
manner.
